COMPAS – access to higher education
COMPAS addresses two moments at which young people from families with no university tradition lose the thread: the move from secondary school to university, and the first year of study. The project supports 176 pupils and recent school leavers preparing to enter higher education, and 176 students of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova who are at risk of dropping out. We are a partner in this project; the lead partner is the university.

Who benefits
352 people in two distinct groups. 176 pupils and school leavers: 156 pupils from grade 11 upwards, from families with low parental education, eligible for social scholarships or of Roma origin, plus 20 leavers from the last two cohorts who did not pass the baccalaureate. 176 university students enrolled at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova without a first degree, from the same categories; at least 70% from families with low parental education. 32 people of Roma origin in total.
What we do in this consortium
We select the pupils and school leavers from schools outside the partner high school, and we monitor, retain and report the target group, with two dedicated experts. The measures themselves include counselling for all 176 pupils, remedial programmes for at least 100, monthly grants of RON 300 for 156 pupils and RON 330 for all 176 students, boarding for 20 pupils and 10 students, 15 information caravans, peer mentoring by 40 student volunteers, a remedial learning centre, and physical and digital accessibility work at the university.
Committed results
Output indicators EECO06 and EECO07 require 352 participants; 5SO05 requires 32 Roma participants. Result indicators require 331 participants staying in education or improving their level, 20 of them Roma. The project also commits to at least five leavers passing the baccalaureate after remedial teaching, and to partnerships of at least five years between schools and faculties.
